Monroe Farmers’ Market offers fresh produce, live music and ice cream

Those seeking a dairy-free option can get a sweet treat from Addeo’s Italian Ice, said Market Master Keith Ciociola, adding Monroe’s market has something for everyone.

least one Connecticut agricultural ingredient.

“It’s a great way for people to be exposed to what Connecticut growers and producers have to offer,” Ciociola said of the weekly event.

Monroe’s market is held on the green every Friday from 3 to 6 p.m. This year’s market runs through Oct. 25.

Each event features live entertainment. On Friday, July 5, the band, Famous

Before We’re Dead, performed inside the gazebo. This week Canyon, a singer and songwriter from Westport, will play music with her acoustic guitar.

The Children’s Coloring Station will be open with brand new farm-themed coloring pages provided by Southbury Printing.

Friday will be the market’s first Pickle Fest. Carrot Top Kitchens will have varieties of pickles for people to sample and the first 100 to stop by will receive a free themed, reusable market tote bag with prizes.

Ciociola said the Monroe Farmers Market has guest appearances by community organizations such as the Lions Club, Monroe Land Trust and the Monroe Historical Society.

Organizers of the market are grateful to its business sponsors, who contribute money toward the advertising and entertainment.
