Monroe public schools to host virtual job fair for substitute teachers

MONROE, CT — A virtual job fair offering opportunities for substitute teaching jobs in Monroe public schools will be held via Zoom from 1 to 3 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 28.

The district is always looking to add qualified candidates to its pool of teacher substitutes. These opportunities help people earn extra money and enhance professional skills as they re-enter the workforce.

A previous job fair, held on Dec. 17, attracted 26 candidates resulting in 10 new hires.

Monroe offers substitute teaching jobs in all five schools in the district, which include three elementary schools, a middle school and a high school. Candidates should have a Bachelor’s Degree in any field and must pass a criminal background check.

A high school diploma is sufficient through the end of the 2020-21 school year.

Positions include flexible scheduling and compensation of $95 per day. Substitutes will be able to choose the days they work, the grades, and the schools they work in, and the type of teaching positions they are willing to cover.

Zoom interviews will be conducted, and candidates are encouraged to have a downloaded resume, college transcript information, and school/grade/day preferences for the interviews.
