MONROE, CT — The Masuk High boys basketball team captured the Hardwood Holiday Classic Championship by defeating Greenwich on Friday and Bunnell on Saturday. This tourney was to be hosted by Greenwich, but moved to Monroe due to a broken pipe at GHS. The Panthers defeated Bunnell 70-66 in Saturday’s title game as Mitch DeBernardo scored 16 points, had 7 assists and grabbed 5 rebounds for MVP honors. Oliver Irving registered 16 points, 6 assists, 5 rebounds and a pair of steals and made the All Tournament Team.
