Letter: Monroe public schools extends lunch signup

The following is a letter from the Monroe school district:

Dear Parents/Guardians,

As you are aware from Superintendent Kobza’s recent email, our school district will be transitioning to remote learning beginning Monday, November 23rd. Therefore, we want to make lunches available to any student/family that may wish to pick-up meals at no cost for next week 11/23-11/25. Because of the late notice we are extending the opportunity to submit an order until 4 p.m. tomorrow, Saturday, Nov. 21.

Students in grades k-12 may order lunch at no cost while the district is on full remote learning using the order form at the following link, click here for order form. All orders must be received by 4pm on Saturday. Lunches must be picked up at Fawn Hollow Elementary School from 7:15 to 8:15 a.m.

Lunch pick-up will occur on Monday, Nov. 23. On Monday, families will pick-up lunches for Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday. Please note there is no other pick up this week due to the holiday. This pick-up site is for all students/families in the school district. All lunches ordered are available free of charge to Monroe Public School students under the age of 18 as recently made available through the National School Lunch Program.

National School Lunch Program Cost Waiver for Student Lunches

All students in grades k-8 wishing to “Purchase” lunch through the school cafeteria will be able to do so at no cost. This nationwide waiver is available to all schools that participate in the National School Lunch Program (NSLP). The program will continue through the end of the school year.
