MONROE, CT — Monroe received a delivery of 2,800 COVID-19 tests from the State overnight, First Selectman Ken Kellogg said in a press release Saturday, adding it is roughly half of the original allotment.
“In an effort to dispense these to the community immediately, distribution will take place today, Saturday, Jan. 1, from 1 to 4 p.m. or until supplies last, at Jockey Hollow Middle School, 365 Fan Hill Road,” Kellogg said.
The first selectman said the primary objective is to provide testing for residents who are unable to find an alternative testing location and have a known exposure or who are symptomatic.
“These kits contain one test each,” he said. “We are able to provide two tests per household and vehicle, on a first come, first served basis. This will be a drive-through pickup and identification showing Monroe residency is required. Please do not arrive early, as vehicles will not be allowed to line up in advance.”
“As I’m sure you are aware, case rates are at an all-time high throughout the State,” Kellogg said. “Monroe is averaging 18 new cases per day. Please remain vigilant. Masking indoors when in public is strongly encouraged. Getting fully vaccinated, and boosted, remains very effective in preventing serious illness and hospitalization.”
