MONROE, CT — Aquarion Water Company’s water main replacement project on Purdy Hill Road is scheduled to begin Monday, Oct. 10. The work, between 165 and 192 Purdy Hill Road, is expected to be completed by the end of December 2022.

Final paving, which will be scheduled in coordination with the town of Monroe, is expected to be completed by May 31, 2023.

The project will replace approximately 770 feet of water main. It is part of an ongoing program to improve Aquarion’s water distribution system and ensure the highest quality water, according to the company. The infrastructure upgrades will also help to reduce leaks and water main breaks that can cause service interruptions.

“We greatly appreciate residents’ patience during this project,” said Justin Xenelis, Aquarion’s manager of utility programs. “We will work closely with our customers, contractors and town officials to coordinate the work and minimize any disruptions.”

Due to construction, customers should expect minor traffic delays and possible detours during the working hours of 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Danbury-based David Tinker Excavation will serve as the contractor for the water main replacement project.

To keep customers informed about scheduled/unscheduled work, Aquarion uses an Everbridge notification system to call affected customers. Aquarion encourages customers to sign up for this free service at aquarionwater.com/alerts.

  1. This is about all the building going on in the area. New buildings, condos etc. Who are you kidding ?? Improving??? What’s wrong with telling the people in the area the truth?? Do you really think we can’t see what’s going on in the area. I am ashamed at you thinking we are stupid homeowners!!

    • This is a press release on the project from the water company. I’m just running it so you know that work will be done on the street and for how long.
