An overhead wire and a tree branch cause two short power outages in Monroe

MONROE, CT – An issue with an overheard power line on Monroe Turnpike caused a short power outage for approximately 1,500 Eversource customers at 11:35 a.m. Tuesday, then a tree branch fell onto wires on Elm Street, knocking out power to 30 more customers around noon.

Mitch Gross, a spokesman for Eversource, said the first outage lasted around 30 minutes and the second repair took about 90 minutes to complete.

The power is now back on for everyone, according to Gross.
